Resolving adminTools Last Chance Error Handler


After successfully installing Vertica 7.2, and creating a database in Admintools, a cluster would not start. Attempting to go back into Admintools and perform any operation resulted in an “adminTools Last Chance Error Handler.”

The error message appeared as:

The contents of /opt/vertica/log/adminTools.errors are:

Looking at /opt/vertica/config/admintools.conf, the [Nodes] section does not correctly list node names:

The node names should math the nodes listed under [Database]. Updating this section in the file on each node corrects the error:

    For me the problem disappeared after I added in /opt/vertica/config/admintools.conf the following lines:

    hosts =

    node0001 =,/home/dbadmin,/home/dbadmin
    v_maria_node0001 =,/vertica_db_maria/catalog,/vertica_db_maria/data

    I wanted to create a new db , single node.
